My Story

My journey to this point probably isn't what you'd expect.  It isn't what I thought it would be either. But that's the beauty of life: it's unpredictable.  Trusting God and going along for the ride is what led me to a place of authenticity, where I can create work that is true to myself and my brand.

I should start out by saying that I never went to art school.  And I've never taken an art class.  In fact, I went to school for broadcast journalism to pursue my dream of becoming a TV news anchor.

I had a successful seven year run, anchoring and reporting on every shift -- from early mornings to late nights and weekends.  The hours were crazy.  I went through more hairspray and makeup than most women would use in an entire lifetime.  But I also met so many amazing people and had life experiences that I'll never forget.

I started painting while working in my first job as a morning anchor in Myrtle Beach.  At first it was like a form of therapy for me -- a way to wind down after a stressful day.  Then I began selling to friends and family, and eventually online and at several local stores.

The more work I sold, the more addicted I became. The process of taking a blank canvas and turning it into something beautiful for a space became my new passion, and my old passion started to lose its luster.  In June 2016, I made the decision to leave the news industry and take the plunge into art full-time.  I haven't looked back since.

I'm telling you all of this because my journey explains my work.  It's bold and raw, and true to who I am.  I'm messy, I change my mind often, I hate the rules and look for every chance to break them.  I like to live life outside the lines.

My signature style includes bold, broad brushstrokes and geometric patterns.  You can find my paintings on display at several Charlotte area stores including Slate Interiors and Shop Revolution.  You can also find a selection of original pieces through Establishment Home, an online art and home decor shop, and in person at Crosby Designs for Hugo's Interiors in Jacksonville, Florida.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site.  It means so much to me.
